TMJD

You may be suffering from Temporomandibular joint disorder or TMJD if you are experiencing symptoms such as chronic recurring headaches, clicking or popping in the jaw joints, limited jaw opening or locking, pain when chewing, tired and tight jaws, and teeth grinding or clenching.

TMJD is the second most commonly occurring musculoskeletal condition resulting in pain and disability (after chronic low back pain). It affects 5 to 12% of the population, affecting primarily women.

Possible causes of TMJD include:
• Arthritis
• Dislocation
• Trauma
• Tooth and jaw alignment
• Stress and teeth grinding

Your chiropractor, along with your dentist, can work together in treating your TMJ.
