Golfer’s elbow

Golfer’s elbow or medial epicondylitis is another painful condition that affects the elbow. The most common culprit is repetitive or excessive stress on the muscles that flex the forearm and fingers.

It is characterized by pain and tenderness on the bony part on the inner side of the elbow that sometimes travels along the inner side of the forearm. Weakness in the hands and wrists, along with tingling or numbing of the little finger and ring finger may be present. The elbow may become stiff and making a fist may be painful. Other activities that may reproduce the pain include swinging a golf club or racket, squeezing or pitching a ball, shaking hands, turning a doorknob, lifting weights, picking something up with the palm down, and flexing the wrist.

Golfer’s elbow responds well to chiropractic care and therapeutic modalities. If left untreated, it can lead to chronic elbow pain, limited range of motion, and not being able to extend the elbow to its full range.
